The North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament relies on community support to cover most of the expenses for the three-day event. A dozen motels on the Outer Banks provide rooms to the VIPs, guests and volunteers for free or at a discounted rate. Restaurants and local Lions clubs cook the meals. Lions clubs across North Carolina contribute to the program or participate in the adopt-a-fisherman program. The North Carolina Lions Foundation annually supports the project.
The North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament uses four fishing piers on the Outer Banks, including the Avalon, Nags Head and Outer Banks Fishing Pier.
Thanks To Our Community Supporters
Some of the participants have the opportunity to fish from two head boats, the Miss Oregon Inlet and the Crystal Dawn. The crews from each boat, along with volunteers, lend a helping hand during the tournament.
Kelly's Restaurant & Tavern traditionally provides the meal for the Wednesday night banquet. Kelly's staff cooks and helps serve the food, along with our volunteers.
Because of ever-increasing costs of organizing the North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament, the Lions are always looking for sponsors. Businesses and individuals are encouraged to help make the event a success. Contributions to the tournament can be tax deductible. Contact Executive Director Gwen White for more information.
Many of our community supporters have Web sites. Click on the photographs to link to their respective sites. We encourage our friends to support these businesses as a way of saying thanks for supporting the North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament.
