Golf Ball Drop

Buy one of the Lions club's charity golf balls for $25. In November, the golf ball will be dropped from a helicopter and if your ball drops into the cup or is closet to the hole you will win. Only 2,500 golf balls will be sold.

More than 2,500 eggs and 3,000 sausage links were cooked to feed the 500 VIPs, guests and volunteers that attended the North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament in 2007.

Sponsored by the First Flight, Nags Head, Manteo, Wanchese, Columbia, Currituck, Lower Currituck and Plymouth Lions clubs, the North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament attracts over 500 blind and visually impaired people, along with their guests, ages 12 to 91 to the Outer Banks. The tournament which draws people from 77 counties, is the largest gathering of blind and visually impaired people in North Carolina.

The 2008 North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament is accepting applications for participants and volunteers. Copies of application can be obtained through our Web site. For questions, contact Executive Director Gwen White at 252-202-2329.

The 2008 North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament will feature a patriotic theme. The Manteo Gymnasium at Westcott Park will be decked out in red, white and blue. Participants, guests and volunteers are asked to come to the tournament dressed in their most patriotic attire.

 

Tournament Winners Announced

Congratulations to Geraldine Hayes of Sampson County, Helen Garrett of Lee County and Kenny Beam Jr. of Cumberland County who were the top three anglers in the 2007 North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament. Beam claimed first place, Garrett took second place and Hayes captured third place. The three VIPs are pictured with VIP President Jimmie Williams who presented the trio with their awards at the annual banquet. Beam, Garrett and Hayes will represent North Carolina in the 2008 National VIP Fishing Tournament on October 15, 2008.
