Golf Ball Drop

Buy one of the Lions club's charity golf balls for $25. In November, the golf ball will be dropped from a helicopter and if your ball drops into the cup or is closet to the hole you will win. Only 2,500 golf balls will be sold.

Sponsored by the First Flight, Nags Head, Manteo, Wanchese, Columbia, Currituck, Lower Currituck and Plymouth Lions clubs, the North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament attracts over 500 blind and visually impaired people, along with their guests, ages 12 to 91 to the Outer Banks. The tournament which draws people from 77 counties, is the largest gathering of blind and visually impaired people in North Carolina.

The North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions help off-set the operating cost of the three-day event are tax deductible, in accordance with the rules of the Internal Revenue Service. The Adopt-A-Fisherman program helps the Lions keep this event going.

The 2009 National VIP Fishing Tournament will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Kitty Hawk Fishing Pier on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Each year, winners of state fishing tournaments par-ticipate in this event, which awards a first, second and third place winner for the heaviest total catch. Bill Reynolds Trophy Awarded

Congratulations to Joyce Manning of Wayne County who won the Bill Reynolds Trophy for catching the biggest fish in the 2008 North Carolina Lions VIP Fishing Tournament. Manning caught a 1.6 pound Red Drum on the Kitty Hawk Fishing Pier. She was presented the trophy by Lion Jimmie Williams, president of the tournament organization, during a banquet honoring individual and group winners. The tournament was held October 13-15, 2008.
